2024-2025 School Year Contracted Bus Route Driver 

 

Department: Transportation

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor

Contracted 180 Day Wage: Contracted salary range of $18.25 - $37.10 per hour based on verifiable experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operate the bus in such a manner that proper care is given the bus and passengers at all times.
  2. Start the route on time so that you will operate the bus at a safe speed and arrive at school on time.
  3. Does not change the route without proper authorization from the supervisor.
  4. Drivers are to perform a pre-trip inspection and student check before and after each route.
  5. Maintain student discipline on the bus.
  6. Keep the bus clean.
  7. Driver must wear seat belt at all times.
  8. Does not allow students off the bus unless at an approved stop, or without a written note from the campus office.
  9. Does not move the bus until all students are seated and facing forward.
  10. All other duties assigned by the supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess at minimum a current Class B CDL with school bus endorsement, air brake endorsement, and passenger endorsement, or be willing to obtain one prior to August 1, 2024. Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check as well as a DHS Child Maltreatment Registry check. All applicants must also pass a bus driver physical and pre-employment drug screening.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. In case of an emergency the employee must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and push or pull up to 100 lbs.
